Omaha Vacation - 2005

Omaha 12/16/05 Due to the late night, we slept in a bit this morning. I did like being able to walk from the concert hall to the hotel. Sure beats driving! Today we went to the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha. We checked out the Picasso exhibit as well as some of the permanent collection. The Picasso exhibit features about 90 prints made by Picasso. I prefer the old masters but I did like some of the prints. Afterwards we went to the Durham Western Heritage Museum housed in Omaha's old Union Pacific Station. Lots of interesting exhibits, but I really like going there so I can visit the old fashioned soda fountain. Served up just like the olden days. Order the malt or shake and you will get a good sized drink AND the mixing container with even more. Almost like getting two drinks. For diner we went to the Old Market area and ate at the Upstream Brewing Company. Excellent food and brew. Kind of noisy but well worth the visit. Went back to the hotel and hung out for the rest of the evening. (We are not the clubbin' type.)
