First time at Jones Bar-BQ - 2005

I went to lunch today with Larry F, and Joe R. Today we wanted to try someplace new so we went to Jones Bar-BQ (609 N. 6th street, Kansas City, KS). I had the Pork sandwich with baked beans. Lots of pork and a nice sized serving of beans. The beans had nice big chunks of meat in them, just the way I like them.

Omaha Vacation - 2005

Omaha - 12/17/05 - Old Market Went to the Old Market today for some Christmas shopping and general browsing. Lots of shops to choose from. I like the Red Square shop, lots of interesting items related to the old Soviet Union. I previously purchased a wind-up tractor made in the Czech republic. This time I bought a new accessory for it. For lunch we went to Trini's Mexican Restaurant. Nice little Mexican restaurant in the Old market Passageway. If you go to the Old Market, make sure to visit the Old Market Passageway.

Omaha Vacation - 2005

Omaha 12/16/05 Due to the late night, we slept in a bit this morning. I did like being able to walk from the concert hall to the hotel. Sure beats driving! Today we went to the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha. We checked out the Picasso exhibit as well as some of the permanent collection. The Picasso exhibit features about 90 prints made by Picasso. I prefer the old masters but I did like some of the prints. Afterwards we went to the Durham Western Heritage Museum housed in Omaha's old Union Pacific Station. Lots of interesting exhibits, but I really like going there so I can visit the old fashioned soda fountain. Served up just like the olden days. Order the malt or shake and you will get a good sized drink AND the mixing container with even more. Almost like getting two drinks. For diner we went to the Old Market area and ate at the Upstream Brewing Company. Excellent food and brew. Kind of noisy but well worth the visit. Went back to the hotel and hung out for the rest of the evening. (We are not the clubbin' type.)

Omaha Vacation - 2005

u2 concert 12/15/05 Omaha Nebraska Had to go to Nebraska to see U2, no Kansas City concert this tour. This was the second time I traveled out of state to see U2. Previous time was to see them in Ames, IA for the ZOO TV tour. Everything you could want from a U2 concert. Great tunes with a little bit of preaching from Bono. Would have liked to hear Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses or Walk on, but who can complain.
